Becoming Yourself

When I got my first reading, the readers
made an interesting comment. They said,
“There’s nothing wrong with you. You’re
just sensitive to the energy and emotions
of everyone around you.” My life was
very confusing: I would feel or pick up the
“vibes” of my surroundings, but I thought
it was me. I was connected.
When I heard that I could learn to
separate from my surroundings, and
experience being myself, I was very
excited. I also was told that I could do it
for myself, and at my own pace. Even
more exciting!
For me, that all happened in 1980. Over
the years, many different types of healing
techniques and the like have surfaced. I’ve
looked at many of them. The things we
teach that are most important to us —
having your own energy, your own energy
space, your own creativity, your own
spiritual information — are not taught or
emphasized elsewhere.
One common comment you’ll hear
about spiritual growth is that we are all
connected or one. This doesn’t work well
for me. I prefer being myself, in
communication with others. How about
you?
